The man known as “The Hurricane” joined the PRCA in 2001, and marked his ultimate determination in tie-down roping. Monty Lewis demonstrated his ability to dominate the competition when he won his first world title after entering his first NFR. Lewis won the aggregate title with a total time of 87.8 seconds on 10 head, and placed in seven out of 10 rounds winning a total of $93,672. In 2005 he took control in the arena again tying for the win in round nine of the NFR with a 7.6-second run and finished second in the aggregate with a total time of 92.2 on 10-head. To round out his 2005 season, Lewis brought home three titles from: the California Rodeo Salinas, the Reno (NV) Rodeo and the Red Bluff (Calif.) Round Up.

Lewis Graduated from Hereford (Texas) High School and went to college at West Texas A&M. His father, Wade, manages Hereford Feed Yards and his sister, Regina, is a CPA in Hereford. With Texas in his heart, Lewis said his favorite subject in school was math; and if he wasn’t a cowboy then he would be a banker or stockbroker. Lucky for us he is a cowboy and a single one at that. We get the privilege to watch this Cinch cowboy as he competes to achieve his second world title.
